Hilda Combs of Atkins departed our world to receive her heavenly rewards on October 28, 2010.

Hilda was born April 16, 1923 to Herbin and Emma Fisher Marriott of Derby, England.

During World War II, she was employed in a manufacturing plant that made wings for the British Hurricane Fighter Planes. She met and married during the war, A.V. Bewley Jr. After the war she was employed by British Railway Co. while awaiting her voyage to start her new life in America. On her second wedding anniversary, Hilda aboard the HMS Queen Mary docked in New York City, after a three day train ride, she arrived in Atkins, AR. Her faith in Jesus has been shown to everyone that knew her, through her smiles, humor, and kind words. Hilda will be greatly missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, A.V. Bewley Jr.; her second husband Wilbert Combs; three sons, Stephen Bewley, Robert Bewley and an infant son, Phillip Bewley; one daughter, Ruth Combs Branch; one brother, Thomas Marriott; an infant great grandson, Christopher Combs; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Marriott.; a grand daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Combs.

She is survived by five children, Alan Bewley & Shawna Shepherd of Dardanelle, Wesley Combs & wife Claudia of South Dakota, Eileen Coker & husband Chuck of Burlington, KS, Mary Hamilton & husband Truman of Monticello, AR, Louise King & husband Jerry of Atkins; nineteen grandchildren; thirty eight great grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, October 30, 2010, at the Pottsville First Baptist Church. Reverend Jim Huffman will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
