When she was three months old, the family moved to Trenton, Utah, where she spent the next 93 years of her life as a member of the Trenton LDS Ward. She married James "Jim" Spackman on Sept. 22, 1937, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. To them nine children were born, five sons and four daughters.
She was always active in the LDS Church serving in many different positions in all of the organizations. She served a Family History Mission in Salt Lake City and gave many years of service at the Logan Temple until health problems prevented her from serving any longer. She was still serving with the Relief Society until the last two years of her life when health problems kept her from staying in her own home. She spent the rest of her time with her daughters, Kathryn and Janet.
Living on the farm, she worked hard side by side with her husband and children. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim; son Wendell and his wife Loretta; son-in-law Terry Riggs; great-grandson; great-great-grandson; and brothers and sisters and their spouses except one, Darlene Hodges of Quincy, Wash. She is survived by her children Kathryn (Wade) Fullmer, Darwin (Jeri) Spackman, Janet (Lynn) Buttars, Marva (Dave) Bruneau, Dale (Jolene) Spackman, Elaine Riggs, Robert (Linda) Spackman and Bert (Janet) Spackman. She was "Grandma Great" to all of her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. All will miss her greatly. She is also survived by five sisters-in-law on the Spackman side, Ruth, Millie, Lola, Mary and Leona LaNoy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at the Trenton/Cornish LDS church with Bishop Ted Andrew conducting. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the Trenton Cemetery.
