Luella Hodges Wheeler, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Sunday Jan. 25, 2004 at age 101 at her home in Bountiful UT.

She was born Sept. 6, 1902, to Lydia Bean West Hodges and Albert William Hodges in Lewiston UT the fourth child of 12 children. Luella married Simon Wheeler on June 7, 1922 in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived on a farm in Lewiston until 1957 when they moved to Salt Lake City, and then to Bountiful, in 1972.

Luella loved her children and grandchildren and they loved her. Her home was a favorite gathering place. Her home and yard were her pride and joy, one year she won an award for her beautiful yard and flowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Simon Wheeler, son, Wayne Wheeler and granddaughter, Brandi Atkin. Luella is survived by her daughters, Sybil (Jack) Nielsen Bountiful; Elma (George) Atkin Garland; Carrol (Lynn) Preece North Salt Lake; and daughter-in-law Opal Wheeler Bountiful; sister Velda (James) Spackman Trenton UT; brother Veral (Darlene) Hodges Quincy WA; 22 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, and 32 great-great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express thanks to her great Dr. Fredrick Gottleib, and to her hospice caregivers the last two weeks of her life.

Funeral services will be held Friday Jan. 30 at 11 a.m. at the North Canyon 5th Ward chapel located at 2600 So Davis Blvd. Bountiful, UT. Viewing will be Thurs. Jan. 29 from 6- 8 p.m. at the Lakeview Cemetery Chapel, 1640 Lakeview Dr. Bountiful, UT.
