L. J. Hacker, Sr., 83, of Miami died at 1:40 p.m., Tuesday Sept. 30, 2004, at the Integris Baptist Regency Health Center after an illness.
Mr. Hacker was born Jan. 6, 1921, to Roy and Crissie Ann (Foraker) Hacker in Stockton, Mo.
He moved to Miami in May 1968. He had been an owner and operator of the Ramsey Ladies to Wear Store in Miami from 1968 until 1983.
He was a retired stockman, and owned and operated the Hackers hatcher and poultry farm in Greenfield for several years.
He was a past president of the Missouri Poultry Producers and the Greenfield Lions Club, a former member of the Greenfield City Council. He was a member of the Washington Masonic Lodge No. 87 A.F.&A.M. of Greenfield, a member of the Abou Ben Adden Temple of Springfield, Mo., associate member of the Akdar Shrine Temple of Tulsa, a member of the Grand Lake Shrine Club, a member of the Royal Arch Masons of Greenfield Mo.
He had been a Mason for 54 years, a Shriner for 52 years, 32 degree mason and a member of the Bethany Christian Church of Miami.
He married Margaret E. “Peggy” Tice on Jan. 5, 1984, at Joplin, Mo. and she survives of the home.
Additional survivors include a son, Lindley J. Hacker, Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Joplin, Mo.; two daughters, Linda Pyle, of Miami, Okla., and Carolyn (Susie) and Wayne Wampler, of Springfield; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; a brother; and an infant daughter, Barbara Ann Hacker.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday at the Bethany Christian Church, with the Rev. Raymond Frizzelle officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Wampler, Jeff Birdsong, Jerry Gullett, Roger Parker, Bill Wilmoth, Harold Hylton, Arnold Cullison. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jesse Grissom, Ray Ammerman, and Bob Torbertt, and Chip Hammons.
Burial will follow in the Stockton, Mo. Cemetery at 3 p.m. under the direction of the Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home of Miami.
Masonic Services will be conducted at the cemetery by members of the Miami Masonic Lodge.
Memorial are suggested to the Shriners Cripple Childrens Hospital or the Bethany Christian Church Building Fund.
