BLOOMINGTON - Edith Grace Haab, 85, a resident of Westminster Village of Bloomington, formerly of Forrest, died at 11:05 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 12, 2009) at Martin Health Care Center, Bloomington.
A Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Forrest United Methodist Church with the Rev. R. David Reynolds and Dr. Randy Perry officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Forrest, and one hour before services at the church. Interment will be at Forrest Township Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Forrest United Methodist Church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Edith was born Nov. 13, 1923, in Sabetha, Kan., a daughter of Sylvan and Bertha (Wegman) Aeschliman. She married Burton Haab on Jan. 1, 1942, in Morton. He died July 29, 1980.

She is survived by one son: Eldon (Jane) Haab, Bloomington; one daughter, Elaine (Charles) Stokes, Bloomington; three grandchildren, Beth (Stacey) Ward, Lacey, Wash.; J.B. Haab, Santa Fe, N.M.; and Michelle Hummel, Fairbury; eight great-grandchildren, Lauren and Lia Ward; Dustin Hummel, Devon, Halie, Kylee, Madison and Jordan Walker; one sister, Arlene Peterson, Manhattan, Kan.; one brother, Clarence (Dorothy) Aeschliman, Hiawatha, Kan.; two sisters-in-law, Nonie Aeschliman, Deer Creek, and Queva Aeschliman, Metamora.

Also surviving are her in-laws, Phil (Ruth) Haab, Harold (Mary Lu) Haab, Robert (Carol Sue) Haab, all of Forrest; Elenore Ricketts, Fairbury; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were very special family to her.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; five brothers; two sisters; one son-in-law, Larry Buland; and twin infant great-grandsons, Michael and Austin Ward.
Edith was a member of Forrest United Methodist Church and J.A. Folwell American Legion Post 174, Forrest.
