Willa Lee Harris Divine, 88, of Burkburnett Texas, loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away on Thursday February 11, 2021 in Wichita Falls, Texas, one day short of her 89th birthday.
Willa was born February 12, 1932 near Red Oak, Oklahoma to Ira Lelan Harris and Anna Belle Dameron Harris. Her early days of growing up on a small farm would soon evolve into a life of travel and European living, and eventually land her in Texas for the rest of her life. She called Frankfurt, Germany and Crete, Greece her home for several years, followed by one year in Schertz, Texas and then Burkburnett, Texas. She was a military wife and a retiree from a career in newspaper publishing with the Wichita Falls Times and Record News. But she never quit working, and up to the day she died, she still owned and managed self-storage and property management businesses. Besides being the matriarch of her family, Willa would tell you that her greatest role was that of a grandmother.
Survivors include her son, Johnny Divine and his wife Ann of Newcastle, Texas; her daughter, Marla of Wichita Falls, Texas; grandsons, Mathew Divine and wife Eva-Maria Werner of Ockenheim, Germany, Mackey Divine and his special friend Jessica Gomez of Wichita Falls, Texas, and John Edgar Shockley and wife Morgan of Tallahassee, Florida; great-granddaughter, Anna Sophia Werner Divine of Ockenheim, Germany; brother, Ted Harris and his wife Nola of Fanshawe, Oklahoma; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Willa would also want to include her love of Juliy Divine, Jamie Catlin, and Edgar Shockley.
Willa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John J. Divine; her precious grandson, James (Jimi) Divine; her special friend for twenty-six years, Howard Mathews; her brothers, George Harris, Johnny Ray Harris, and Ira Harris; and her sisters, Betty June Kruseman and Emma Marler.
No services have been planned, but Willa is to be cremated and the family will hold a memorial service as the weather gets more to her liking. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett.
In lieu of flowers, Willa would ask that you consider charitable contributions to Hospice of Wichita Falls and/or the First Baptist Church of Burkburnett.
