Cain Death Called Suicide
Edward J. Cain, 40, Madison, died Saturday after taking an overdose of sleeping tablets in the home of a friend, John MacLean in Waterville, Dr. H. J. Haberer, coroner, said, and pronounced death due to poison, self-administered, in a fit of melancholic delirium.

Mr. Cain, a registered nurse and former State Hospital employe, has served in combat areas in France and Germany until the close of the ar. He was discharged last November and had been convalescing from a nervous disorder in a Waterville nursing home. He was born in Utica, a son of Thomas F. Cain and the late Catherine Noon Cain, and had lived in Madison until 1934, when he entered a Brooklyn hospital. He arrived [unreadable line] when he was inducted and assigned to the Medical Corps of the 783rd Regiment.

He leaves his father and one brother, Thomas Cain Jr., Madison. A prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. tomorrow in his Madison home. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church, Oriskany Falls, Burial will be in Waterville Cemetery.
