Newton Antrobus, Dies Suddenly at Home.
Rev. Newton Antrobus, retired Baptist minister, died at his home in Manchester Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at the age of 80 years. He had been in failing health for some time. He died suddenly while sitting in a chair.
His wife preceded him in death a number of years ago. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Rachael Fitzgerrell of White Hall and Mrs. Rena Greenwalt of Hazen, Ark., one brother Ed Antrobus of Indiana and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Manchester Baptist church in charge of Elder Fred Herron, assisted by Rev. Ora Carmean and Rev. Lonnie Moore.
Mrs. P. W. Edwards and Mrs. W. S. Anders sang "Jesus Lover of My Soul," "Golden Bells" and "Saved by Grace" accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Ethel Heaton.
Those caring for the flowers were Mary Lou and Helen Heaton, Martha Arendell, Faye Cooley and Mary Beth McPherson.
Casket bearers were Rev. Ora Carmean, Frank Carmean, Ernest Carmean, Ed Carmean, Arthur Spencer and George Cooper. Burial was in the Manchester cemetery.
Among those attending from a distance were Mrs. Ernest Roach and Mrs. Ernest Shawn of Jacksonville, Mr. and Mrs Harry Gilmore and Mr. and Mrs. Dick McNeeley of Murrayville, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Markillie of Winchester, Mrs. Libbie Postlewait, Mrs. Ward Hull, Mrs. Chas. Cryder, Chas. Hayes, Chas, Hudson, Dean Raines, Rev. Guthrie, Rev. Ora Carmean, Rev. and Mrs. Donnie Moore and Wm. Schroeder, Mrs. Clark, all of White Hall and Mrs Gertie Cain of Alsey.
