Newton M. Perkins, son of Moses and Eliza Perkins was born Nov. 28, 1839 in Madison twp, Lenawee Co, & died at his home in Hudson, August 1, 1918. Civil War vet. Married Miss. Nancy H. Brown on Oct. 10, 1867. They had 2 children, a dau who died at the age of 18, & a son Fred of Youngstown, O. Survived by his wife and son & 1 sister, Mrs. Mary Tracy of Port Huron. Burial in Maple Grove Cemetery. He enlisted in the 18th Michigan Infantry and served 3 years.
