FUNERAL FOR CARL A. DEAL 58, WAS HELD ON SUNDAY

Death Comes To Winfield Resident At Denver Hospital

Funeral services were conducted for Carl A. Deal, 58, retired farmer, Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Methodist church. The Rev, Roger L. Crabtree was in charge of the services, with the Rev Chester E. Chandler assisting.
Burial was in the Winfield-Scott township cemetery.
Carl Arius Deal was born in Henry county, Iowa on May 31, 1889 and passed away at Mercy hospital at Denver, Colorado on Thursday, Nov. 6, 1947 at the age of 58 years, five months and six days.
He was united in marriage with Claribel Peck on August 16, 1911. To this union two children were born: Harriet Virginia and William Edward, the latter preceding him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
He is survived his wife, the daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ross; a grandson, Donald Dean Ross two brothers, Leslie S. of Denver, Colorado and Guy J. of Winfield.
Mr. Deal had spent his entire life in the Winfield community, en-
gaged in farming. He was a member of the Methodist church, the Odd Fellows lodge and the Winfield Lions Club of which he was a director.
Mr. and Mrs. Deal had gone to Denver the middle of October to visit
his brother, Leslie. He became ill en route on the train and soon
after arriving in Denver was taken to the hospital where he under-
went an operation. He seemed to be recovering normally and when their daughter, Mrs. Ross, who had gone to Denver upon word of her father's illness, returned home two weeks ago, it was understood that he was to be dismissed from the hospital late last week. Death was caused by a blood clot.
