wife of John Randall "Rufus" Sanders, Sr

J.R. Sanders and his family were among the earliest settlers of Jack County. In 1826, John Radall Sanders married Phoebe Eaton. After living in Tennessee and Arkansas, they came to texas in 1847 settling in Navarro County until 1855, when they moved to northwest Texas. The area they located in 1856 would become Jack County.

Mrs. Phoebe Sanders was the first women to come to Jack County, who with her nine children, and seven others pitched their tents in the Salt Hill Community.

Jonathan, 1831-1915
Benjamin F., 1832-1896
William, 1833-1862, killed in Civil War
Charity E., 1841-1927
Phillip, 1843-1920
Catherine, 1845-1910
