GERTRUDE C. GESELL
Mrs. Gertrude C. Gesell, 87, of 4002 Michigan Ave., Manitowoc, died Monday
afternoon, Dec. 9, at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc. Private family
memorial services will be at First Lutheran Church Chapel, Manitowoc. The Rev.
Bruce Hanstedt will officiate. Mrs. Gesell will be cremated and her cremains
will be buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Gesell was born Aug. 21, 1898 at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Emil and
Ida Hoyer Schmidtman. She was married to Adolph Gesell, July 8, 1920 at
Manitowoc, Wis. Her husband preceded her in death Oct. 25, 1979. Mrs. Gesell
was a past member of The Order of Eastern Star No. 196.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Severson and Dona Gesell of Manitowoc; four grandchildren, David Severson of Summerville, S.C., Mark Severson of Neenah, Wis., Robin Bryant and Kim Czekala of Manitowoc; six great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by infant twin sons, two brothers, Emil and Harvey Schmidtman and a son-in-law, Clyde Severson.
There will be no visitation. Memorials appreciated to North End Home Care Hospice.
Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, assisted the family with arrangements.

In the presence of the immediate famiies and a few invited guests, the marriage
of Miss Gertrude, daughter of Mrs. E. J. Schmidtman to Adolph Gessel took place
at the Schmidtman home, North Sixth Street, at noon last Thursday, Rev. Machmiller
officiating.
The ceremony was marked by simplicity and was a very pretty one, following which
a wedding dinner was served. Mr. and Mrs. Gessel left in the afternoon for Three
Lakes where they will spend their honeymoon and will return in ten days to take up their home at Fourteenth and Marshall streets.
Both young people are well and favorably known. Mr. Gessel is employed in the
office of the Aluminum Goods Company in this city.
