William resided most of his life in Virginia's Northern Neck counties; his later years in what is now Stafford County, Virginia. He married Elizabeth Combs, daughter of John Combs. (Richmond County, Virginia Deed Book 7 p 191 & Westmoreland County, Virginia Deed Book 8 pp 68-70).
In 1716, John Combs of Richmond County, Virginia bequeaths to his daughter, Elizabeth Kendall, one cow. William Kendall and his wife, Elizabeth, of Stafford County, Virginia sold land in Westmoreland County, Virginia to Jeremiah Murdoch on 28 September 1726.
William Kendall married Elizabeth Combs by 11 December 1716 and she was still his wife in 1726. During this period, between 1716 and 1726, William and Elizabeth had the following sons:
William (died 1777) m. Jemima Kirk on 10 May 1738 in Overwharton Parish, Stafford, VA
George (died after 1756) m. Margaret Kelly on 5 June 1748 Overwharton Parish, Stafford, VA
John (died 1808) m. Catherine Key on 9 January 1752 Overwharton Parish, Stafford, VA
James (died about 1804) m. Mary Ann Coffey on 25 February 1745 Overwharton, Stafford, VA
Joshua (died about 1795) m. Catherine Smith on 4 April 1749 Overwharton, Stafford, VA.
There was William Kendall who died 1744 in Prince William County, Virginia. His widow was named Sarah. (Prince William County, Virginia Deed Book C p 478). Also, he should not be confused with William Kendall (202523115) who married Sarah Foster and wrote a his will 1777 in Orange County, Virginia
There is a family story or claim for a William Kendall (1694-1777) who married Sarah Payne Mason (1699-1749) but no evidence or primary documentation has been found to support these individuals. It is possible the above mentioned William Kendall's have been misidentified as a single person. All of these are different individuals
