Esequíel "Zeke" Alcon, age 67, a life long resident of Wagon Mound, NM, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2012 following an extended illness.
Esequíel was preceded in death by his parents, Alfredo and Josie Romero Alcon and his in-laws, Johnny and Celina Chávez.
Esequíel is survived by his wife, Susie of Wagon Mound, NM, five daughters, Clara Urquijo and her husband, Arturo Sr. Of Miami, NM, Celina Esquíbel and her husband, Daniel of Wagon Mound, NM, Hope Alcon of Albuquerque, NM, Sue Alcon and her husband, Trini Gallegos of Santa Fé, NM and Tiffany Alcon and her companion, David Hare of Wagon Mound, NM, two sons, Jonathan Alcon and Jason Alcon both of Wagon Mound, NM, 11 grandchildren, Arturo Urquijo Jr., Karl Esquíbel, Amber Alcon, Cali Brown, Johnny Alcon, Alyssa Alcon, Yolanda Alcon, Kianna Gallegos, Javier Gallegos and Lliana Gallegos and two great-grandchildren.
Esequíel was born on February 7, 1945 and was united in marriage to Susie Chávez on May 10, 1976 at the Santa Clara Church in Wagon Mound, NM.
Esequíel worked various jobs in construction throughout his life and worked as a ranch hand at local ranches and loved to work cattle on his horse, Fanny Lee. Esequíel received his gas inspector certification through Southern Union Gas Co. In Borger, TX. Zeke was a humble person. Some of his enjoyments were wood working, such as carving retablos and chopping wood and making other beautiful crafts with inexpensive materials. Zeke also enjoyed yard work for his own self and for others, and loved the outdoors, camping and fishing. His family will always remember his specialty in making bunelos.
Services will be held from the Santa Clara Catholic Church in Wagon Mound, NM with a rosary on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning, August 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Father C. John Brasher will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in the Santa Clara Cemetery in Wagon Mound, NM with the following relatives serving as casket bearers, Arturo Urquijo Sr., Arturo Urquijo Jr., Jonathan Alcon, Karl Esquíbel, Trinidad Gallegos Jr. and Daniel Esquíbel. Honorary bearers will be Jason Alcon, Javier Gallegos, Johnny Alcon and Cali Brown.
