Phyllis Barbara (Jenkins) Shetterly, 73, Lapel, died unexpectedly April 29, 1996, at Valley Medical Center in Las Vegas while on vacation to celebrate her 53rd wedding anniversary. She was born Nov. 6, 1922, in Pendleton, the daughter of William and Ora (Flowers) Jenkins. She was a 1942 graduate of Lapel High School. She and her sister owned and operated Mid and Phyllis's Beauty Shop in Lapel for more than 25
years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Lapel, Lapel Order of Eastern Star Chapter 457, where she was a 54-year member, and Nameless Bridge Club. Survivors include her husband, Ward Shetterly Jr.; two daughters and son-in-law, Connie Zehrung of Nashville, Tenn., and Vickie and Gary Miller of Lapel; two brothers, Robert Jenkins and William Jenkins, both of Anderson; sister, Mildred Gudgel of Lapel; four grandchildren, Brad Zehrung of Nashville, Tenn., Marla Sims of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Chad Miller and Jennifer Miller, both of Lapel; and several nieces and
nephews. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Scott E.. Hersberger Funeral Home with the Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be in Brookside
Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Order of Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
