She was born November 7, 1924, in Preston, Nevada to Christian Hermansen and Nettie P. Warnock, the youngest of six children. Betty graduated from Lund Nevada High School in 1942 and then moved to Logan, Utah where she attended Utah State Agricultural College. While in Logan she met her husband, Joseph Hanson. They were married May 11, 1946 in Provo, Utah and later sealed with their family in the Provo Temple.
Betty was active in her church and served in Primary, as Sunday School Secretary, and Relief Society Secretary in both ward and stake positions. She taught Genealogy classes and worked as Coordinator of the Orem Sunset Heights Stake Extraction Program for many years. She also served a one year mission at the BYU Genealogy Library.
Betty loved her many friends in her "Do Nothing" club that has met since 1951. She was a member of Dekatos Literary Club since 1950 and was also past president of the Riverside Ladies Club. She loved the outdoors, camping, hiking, classical music, reading and working in her yard at her beloved Orem home.
The family would like to express their thanks to the directors, staff, and residents of Courtyard at Jamestown for their loving care, friendship, and support.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2012 in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo. Friends may call on the family at the mortuary 1 hour prior to services. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
