Parents Cpt. John Hitchcock and Rebecca Buel. according to Hemingways history of VT. He was the first Physician in the town of Monkton, VT. He built the first gristmill in that town and after several yrs moved to French Mills (Fort Covington)with Albon & Alric Man abt 1802. His nephew Barzillai later joined him from Kingsbury & Ticonderoga and apparently studied medicine under his tutelage as he was listed as an early member of the Franklin Co medical society.
