He lived one year at Cambridge, Washington County, New York; then moved to Sandy Hill in 1784. He gave land to the county for the courthouse. He built Zion church at Sandy Hill.
Zina Hitchcock served in the revolution with the 17th Rgt Albany County Militia. He served in the New York Assembly from 1789 to 1793. He was elected to the office of State Senator in 1793, and served for ten years in that capacity. He was a judge, and was one of the founding members of the Washington Masonic lodge, the first in the area. He was appointed as Surgeon at Ft. Edward where his half-brother Issac Hitchock was second Major.
