Arthella Gay Powell, age 87, of Lehi, died May 6, 1991 at Holy Cross Hospital of complications from a stroke.

She was born February 5, 1904 in Provo, Utah to William Aaron and Clara Ann Page Stewart Gay. Married Dean Powell, November 24, 1926 in Salt Lake LDS Temple; he died February 17,1985. She graduated from Orem High School. She was a housewife and had been employed by J.C. Penney in Provo and American Fork; she also helped her husband in the service station business. She served in the LDS Church as Young Women's president; Relief Society secretary; visiting teacher and a teacher in all organizations. Survivors include two sons and two daughters, Dean Keith Powell and Mrs. Reed (Beverly Ann ) Tolman, both of Midvale; William Gay Powell, Lehi; Mrs. Duane (Diane Gay ) Ellsworth, Sandy; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Grant Gay, Logan. She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters, Royal, Adelbert, Elwood, John, Mrs. Laurel Gibson, and Mrs. Maud West.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 10, 1991, 11 a.m. in the Wing Mortuary Chapel, 118 E. Main, Lehi. Interment in the Lehi City Cemetery.
