Mary Magdalena Mehring was born April 3, 1801, in Frederick County, Maryland, the daughter of Frederick and Magdalena Garner Mehring. On September 3, 1827, she married in Frederick County, Maryland, William Valentine, son of Jacob and Anna Mary Freeze Valentine. They were the parents of one son: James Edward Valentine. Mary Magdalena passed away at the age of 28, on March 30, 1829, just two weeks after giving birth to James. She was buried in Haugh's Church Cemetery in Ladiesburg, Frederick County, Maryland. Her sister, Lydia, would become her widowed husband's 2nd wife, and therefore the mother of her infant child, James Edward Valentine.

Mary's husband William is the grandson of Immigrant Johan George Valentine (1715-Dec 1783).
