William McKendrick Hall, age 73 of Roanoke, died Saturday, July 18, 1992, at the VA Medical Center in Salem. Mr. Hall was born January 14, 1919, the son of the late Richard Shelton Hall, Sr., and Kate Estelle Edwards. He attended Virginia Tech where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets, the Olde Guard and Class of 1941, graduating with a BS in business administration. Mr. Hall served in the U.S. Army Infantry as First Lieutenant in the European Theatre of Operations, including the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Silver Star for distinguished service to his country. He was a real estate appraiser for Virginia Department of Taxation from 1947 to 1954. Mr. Hall was a real estate broker from 1950 through 1980. He was the co-owner of R. L. Rush & Son, Inc., retiring in 1980. Mr. Hall was a founding member and past-president of the local chapter of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers. He also served on the Vestry of St. James' Episcopal Church of Roanoke. Surviving are his wife of forty-three years, Louise Breckinridge Hall, Roanoke; sons and daughters-in-law, William McKendrick, Jr., and Corinne Yount Hall, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; William Breckinridge and Norma Wilson Hall, Roanoke; John Shelton and Deborah Palmer Hall, Blacksburg; brothers and sister-in-law, Richard Shelton Hall, Jr., Nomini Grove, Va.; George Harwood and Delia Gregory Hall, King George, Va.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna and Robert Richard Boyd, Alexandria, Va.; Eleanor and Robert E. L. Baker, Fredericksburg, Va.; and nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 20, 1992, at 1:00 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel with the Rev. Doctor W. Melvin Maxey, Mary N. Orville and the Rev. J. Michael Palmer officiating and burial to follow in Evergreen Burial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's South Chapel Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of choice.
