Mrs. Philomena V. Hannan, widow of Thomas F. Hannan who served two terms as mayor of Kansas City, Kansas, died early this morning at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Patrick Boyle, of 1057 Laurel Avenue. Mrs. Hannan was 62 years old and had been in ill health for about a year.

She was born in Washington, D.C. and there she was married to Thomas F. Hannan, the couple coming to Kansas City, Kansas, in 1881, where she had lived ever since. When the towns of old Wyandotte, Armourdale and old Kansas City, Kansas, were consolidated in 1886 into a city, Mr. Hannan was elected the first mayor for a term of one year. he was re-elected for a two-year term, was out of office one term and was again re-elected for two years. Mr. Hannan died twelve years ago.

Mrs. Hannan was interested in all affairs of the city. In the early days she worked for the furtherance of a movement to teach the Indians of the county to farm, later turning her attention to club work and efforts to obtain parks on the Kansas side.

Besides Mrs. Boyle, Mrs. Hannan leaves another daughter, Mrs. D. Truesdale; and two sons, Gerald F. and F. D.L. Hannan, all of this city.
