New Hartford - Mrs. Bertha Zimmerman, 78, of 20 Mayberry Place, widow of Karl Zimmerman, died today in St. Elizabeth Hospital after a two-month illness.
Mrs. Zimmerman was born in Rupperswill, Switzerland, and was educated there. She came to Utica in 1912 and was married to Mr. Zimmerman there in 1915. He died in 1953.
Mrs. Zimmerman was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Rose) Berry, of New Hartford and two sisters, Mrs. Hans (Elizabeth) Hauptli, of Utica, and Mrs. Gottlieb (Lina) Matter, of St. Petersburg, Fla.
The funeral will be at 10:30 Friday from the chapel of the John S. Friedel Funeral Home with the Rev. John H. Sprock, D.D., pastor of Zion Church, officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tomorrow and Thursday.
