Catherine was the daughter of Conrad Hausmann and Catharina Kotzenberg. She married John Griese in 1875. They were the parents of Henry and Edward. She married 2nd George Buettner on July 14, 1886. They were the parents of Charles, William, Lucille, and Louis.

The Odebolt News - Thursday , July 23rd, 1914 - Another old settler has passed to the beyond in this community this week in the person of Mrs George Buettner, who died on Monday last.

Katherine Hausmann was born in Will County, Illinois on October 10, 1854. In 1875 she was married to John Griese and to this union were born two children. Henry Griese of Montana and Edward Griese, who resides in this state.

On July 14, 1886 she was married to her second husband, George Buettner and to this union four children were born, three toys and one girl, as follows: Charles, who resides in Armour, S.D.; William and Lucille, who reside in Odebolt, and Louis, who died in infancy.

Mrs. Buettner had lived in this community since 1886 and had been a sufferer for the past twelve months.

She left four sisters and two brothers to mourn her departure as follows: Henry Hausmann of Odebolt; Charles Hausmann of Arthur; Carrie Halboth of Sioux City; Annie Huebner of Odebolt; Mrs. Henry Mandernach of Odebolt; and Mrs Henry Rabe also of this community.

Among the friends and relatives who came from distant points to see the remains deposited in their final resting place and pay tribute to the departed friend and relative were: Henry Kirkman and wife, Frank Young and wife, Henry Hausmann Young and wife, Henry Hausmann and wife, and Mrs. Engelking, all of Van Horn, Benton County; Chas. Buettner of Armour, S.D.; Henry Kastner and wife of Wall Lake; Henry Griese, Montana; Earl Mandernach and wife, and George Hix and wife of Storm Lake, and Carrie Halboth of Sioux City.

Mrs. Buettner was a woman who held the respect of those who knew her and a large gathering was present at the funeral services on Tuesday which were presided over by the Rev. Maurice P. Arrasmith.
