Toxie H. “Uncle Toc” Dunaway, 91, of Jayess, died Feb. 20, 2008, at his home. Visitation at New Bethel Jesus Name Church. Services were 11 A.M. Friday at New Bethel, with Rev. Larry Reed, Rev. Bobby Lambert, Rev. Jerry Sullivan officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery, under the direction of Capps Funeral Home of Tylertown.

Mr. Dunaway was born July 9, 1916, in Jayess to Clemons D. and Ettie Wallace Dunaway.
He was a construction supervisor, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of New Bethel Jesus Name Church.

Preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Christine O’Quin Dunaway; five brothers, Alton, Clarence, Dail, Clayton and William (Bill) Dunaway; and four sisters, Lois Foil, Uldine Beard, Edna Stephens and Daphne Kelly.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Gates Dunaway; two sons and daughters-in-law, Shelby and Shirley Dunaway of Biloxi and Noble and Darlene Dunaway of D’Iberville; a daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Wayne Brown of Augusta, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Judi Faulk and husband Ralph of Oregon, and Ellen Lawrence and husband Dennis of Gulfport; two sisters, Emogene Dearing and Kathleen McKenzie; 13 grandchildren, David Dunaway, Steve Dunaway, Anita Santos, Amanda Ponjican, Christy Templeton, Catrina Norton, Marisa Hankins, Justin Brown, Ashley Brown, Richard Lawrence, Glenn Faulkner, Billy Faulkner and Keith Busby; and 16 great-grandchildren.
