Fond du Lac Reporter, Tues. Nov. 20, 1990, p. 20:1. Raymond F. Wagner, 84, of N8983 W. Shore Lane, St. Cloud, died Mon. Nov. 19, 1990, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born Aug. 3, 1906, in Mt. Calvary, a son of Albert and Flora Dreifuerst Wagner. On May 30, 1942, he married Estelle Fuhrmann at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joe. Mr. Wagner attended area schools and the Fountain City Business College in Fond du Lac. He was a lifelong resident of Mt. Calvary until moving to Wolf Lake in 1981, and he was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mt. Calvary. Mr. Wagner was employed with Mt. Calvary State Bank for 60 years before retiring in 1988. During his employment there he was a bookkeeper and teller from 1928 to 1938; an assistant cashier from 1932 to 1959; casher from 1959 to 1970; president and chairman of the board from 1970 to 1987; and chairman of the board from 1987 to 88. He served on the board of directors from 1967 to 1988, after which the bank was sold to National Exchange Bank of Fond du Lac. During his banking career, Mr. Wagner was a member of American Bankers Association, Wisconsin Bankers Association, Fond du Lac County Bankers Association, where he served as secretary in the 1960s, and Kettle Moraine Bankers Association. He was an original member of the Villa Loretto Lay Advisory Board, and until his illness was an avid bicyclist. Survivors include his wife, Estelle of Wolf Lake; one son Christopher L. and his wife Kathleen of Glencoe IL; one daughter, Mary L. Schmidt, and her husband Karl of Fond du Lac; five grandchildren, Andrea and Jason Schmidt, Kristin, Erica and J. Adam Wagner; one sister, Laura Olson of Island Lake IL; one brother, Joseph and his wife Agnes of Mt. Calvary; and one sisters-in-law, Adela Wagner of Fond du Lac. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, two sisters and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Huss Funeral Home, St. Cloud, and at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mt. Calvary. The Rev. David Matenaer will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where a parish vigil will be held at 8 p.m. A memorial in his name has been established for Holy Cross Church.
