Brother Who Was Congressman In '29 Sole Survivor
Lycius Craig Stone, 71-year-old pioneer Oklahoman. was found dead Thursday at his home in Jones. Death was attributed to a heart ailment by acting coroner Evert Crismore, Stone, who was last seen alive Tuesday, was found by a neighbor. Stone was a brother of U. S. Stone. 1607 North Klein avenue, who was fifth district congressman from 1929 to 1931. The city man is Stone's only survivor. After graduating from the University of Illinois in 1892. Stone went into the Cherokee strip when it opened in 1892, but the following year moved to eastern Oklahoma. He settled in the Jones area in 1897, and was co-founder of a bank there. which he served as cashier. He still owns considerable property in the area, his brother said. Arrangements will be made at the Baggerley funeral home, Edmond.

OBITUARY
Lycius Craig Stone was born December 4, 1870, in De Witt County. Ill., where he spent his boyhood days. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois. When the Kickapoo Country was opened for settlement in 1894, he made the run, and staked a claim four miles east and one mile south of Jones. He, with his mother and his brother U. S., organized the first bank of Jones, which is now the First National Bank of Jones. He accepted the position as cashier. After quitting the bank business, he opened a mercantile business in Jones. After leaving the mercantile business he purchased a farm and spent several years operating the same. After quitting the farm he moved to Jones, where he lived until death overtook him, April 8, 1942, at the age of 71 years, 5 months and 4 days. He was a very quiet and reserved man living alone at the time of his death. He leaves to mourn his passing, one brother, U. S., of Oklahoma City; four nephews and nieces, and a number of friends. Funeral services were conducted in the Assembly of God Church at Jones, by Geo. W. McCoy, at 4:30 p. m., April 12. Burial in the IOOF cemetery of Jones.

LYCIUS STONE FOUND DEAD AT HIS HOME
People of the Jones community were shocked last Thursday even- ing when it was announced that Lycius Craig Stone, former Stone, former banker and merchant, was dead. He was found dead at his home. He had been last seen alive, on Tuesday by neighbors, who said he had been ill. Mr Stone, who was 71 years old, was born in Illinois. After graduating from the University of Illinois in 1892, Stone went into the Cherokee strip when it opened in 1892, but the following year moved to eastern Oklahoma. He settled near Jones in 1897 when the town was started, later moving to town and started with his brother U. S. Stone, former Congressman, the first Bank of Jones. Afterward he engaged in the mercantile business. He is survived by his brother U. S. Stone of Oklahoma City. A sister, Miss Effie Stone, died several years ago. Funeral services were conducted in the Assembly of God Church at Jones, by Geo. W. McCoy, at 4:30 p. m., April 12. Burial in the I. O. O. F. cemetery of Jones.

Not mentioned here is that he was married for a short time to Bertha Blanche Grable 19 Feb 1905, they had a son, Togo, he died when only a month or two old. Lycius and his sister Sarah Effie were both 89'ers, they staked their claims in Elk Township, section 3 with several lot/tracks. Alison Land

Funeral will be at 4:30 p. m. Sunday in the Church of Christ at Jones for Lycius Craig Stone, 71-year-old pioneer Oklahoman who died of a heart ailment Friday at his home in Jones. Burial will be in the Jones cemetery. Paas funeral, Edmond will have charge.
