JONES WOMAN FOUND DEAD IN HER STORE
Miss Effie Stone, 52 years old, who had been a resident of Jones City ever since the year the town started 27 years ago, and who had conducted the Stone Pharmacy since time, was found dead in her store between three and four o'clock last Saturday evening. It will never be known for a certainty just what caused her death. The unfortunate woman was a victim of epilepsy, and it is believed when she suffered an attack Saturday she fell against the stove, the blow, together with her weakened condition resulting in death. A scar was found on her head, indicating that this was the case. The first intimation of Stone's death came when a couple of women went into the store to make a purchase. They found her lying on her face on the floor, and going out met R. A. Miller and told him about her. Mr. Miller went into the store and as soon as he tried to turn her over, he knew that she was dead. Mr. Miller immediately notified Dr. I. J Wood, who after an examination said the woman had probably been dead about forty minutes. The sheriff's office was notified and Justice Hawkins of Oklahoma City held an inquest, pronouncing her death due to apoplexy. Miss Stone and her brother, L. C. Stone lived together in rooms at the rear of the store. He had gone to Oklahoma City early the day of her death, returning home just before nine o' clock that evening, and did not know of his sister's death until after he arrived home. She also leaves another brother, U. S. Stone of Wichita Falls, Texas. The latter was a candidate for the nomination for congress on the Republican ticket from this district four years ago. She also leaves a half-brother, A. T. Wildman, of San Antonio, is Texas. Miss Stone was a graduate of the school of pharmacy of the Oklahoma University and had been in the pharmacy business in Jones since, shortly after her graduation.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 o'clock at the Methodist church in Jones, followed by burial at the Odd Fellows' cemetery. The Rebekah lodge, of which deceased was a member, had charge of the services at the grave.
