He was the youngest of eight children born to Andrew Theodore Johnson and Martha Mae (Timothy) Johnson. Duayne graduated from Uintah High School in 1938 and attended Utah State University and BYU. In 1942, he was called to the LDS Church Northwestern United States Mission, where he served for two years. In 1944,

Upon his release from the Navy, Duayne married Venna Nellie Goodrich December 18, 1945. Duayne and Venna had five children, Michael (June), Karla (Wayne) Williamson, Don (Carey), Andrew (Caryn), and Theodore (Cindy).

In 1983, Venna lost a long battle with cancer and preceded Duayne in death. On October 12, 1991, Duayne married Doris Ann Moore and became a father to Debbie (Duane) Harvey, Greg (Kristin) Fenn, and two deceased daughters, Pamela Ann Fenn and Danette Fenn.

Duayne was a strong, kind, and faithful man, who was loved and admired by many; especially by his family, who will remember his advice, his stories, his singing, his infectious laugh, and the many wonderful times at the ranch and cabin. He will be dearly missed! Funeral services held Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at the Granger West 4th Ward, 3305 South 3960 West. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
