Rev. Charles H. Jones, Sr. Of Sheridan, Arkansas was born February 28, 1924 in Thornton, Arkansas, the son of the late Charlie Hugh and Mary Adella Jones. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Sheridan. He was a minister for over 44 years, pastoring Harmony Baptist Church, Elverta Baptist Church in California, and Southside Baptist Church, Fordyce Arkansas. He was a faithful, dedicated, strong and loving man of God.
He had many passions in life including hunting, fishing, gardening, building houses, playing the violin and guitar as well as writing music. But most of all he enjoyed football. He had also worked for the Federal Government for over 30 years with the Defense Contract Administration as a Quality Assurance Specialist.
Rev. Jones went to be with his Lord on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, at the age of 88.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Standridge Jones, and his brothers, Oliver M. Jones, Arther L. Jones and James H. Jones.
Survivors: Sons, Charles H. Jones, Jr. And wife Jannette of Sheridan; Tom Jones of Sheridan and Beverly Carter; Stan Jones and wife Connie of Fordyce; Randy Jones and wife Angela of Mulberry; Daughters, Charlotte Rushing and husband Tom of Calico Rock; Peggy Parker of Hot Springs Village; Jan Townsend and husband Jupe of Malvern; Brothers, Kirby R. Jones and wife Doris of Thornton; Lucian Jones of Sheridan; Gerald Jones and wife Dorothy of Hampton; Sisters, Virginia Skinner and husband Mel of Sacramento, CA; Lillie Sue Workman of Fordyce;
18 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Ernest DeSoto and Bro. Wade Totty officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Fordyce. Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 1201 South Rock, Sheridan, AR 72150 or charity of donor's choice.
