Clara Ann Cowan, 86, of Clyde and formerly of Ballinger died Thursday, August 2, 2012 at her home. Graveside services will be 9:00 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012 in the Garden of Memories Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Ballinger under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2012 at the funeral home. Reception will follow after the services.
Mrs. Cowan was born May 7, 1926 in San Angelo, Texas to Alexander and Georgia Lou (Terry) Friebele. She was a graduate of Lakeview High School in San Angelo and Durham Business College in Ft. Worth. She married Frank Leland Cowan in Ft. Worth. They moved to Ballinger from Ft. Worth in 1942 and she moved to Clyde in 1998. She was a homemaker and a member of Seventh Street Baptist Church of Ballinger.
Mrs. Cowan is survived by one daughter, Frances Rose and husband Leon of Clyde; one son, Harry Cowan and wife Rosemarie of Ballinger; five grandchildren, Paula Kinslow and husband Mike of Clyde, Shannon Cowan of Ballinger, Matlock Rose of Clyde; Ann Ozturgut and husband Osman of San Antonio and Shaun Cowan of Crestview, Florida; and four great-grandchildren, Tara and Mikayla Kinslow and Asya and Abraham Ozturgut.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one sister Joe Brashear.
