CHAPIN - Services for Arnold F. Hollingsworth, 78, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 26, 1999 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital.
Mr. Hollingsworth died Wednesday, December 22, 1999. Born in Baltimore, he was a son of the late Jim E. and Annie Brantley Hollingsworth. He was a member of Chapin United Methodist Church and retired from Ben Arnold Co. after 25 years. He was also owner of Anchor Realty. He was very active in the Jamil Shriners and was a veteran of World War II, receiving both the Purple Heart and Bronze Star, as well as capturing a Japanese officer. He was one of the master builders and developers in the 1950's in the Columbia area.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Hollingsworth; sons, Jim Hollingsworth of Irmo, Will Hollingsworth of Lexington, Freddie and Ernie Hollingsworth of Chapin; daughters, Mary Thompson of Mt. Pleasant, Teretha McDaniel of Saluda; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
