He was a native of Gaston County and the son of the late Fonz H. Huffstetler and Lona Glover Huffstetler.
Funeral service will be 12 PM Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Loray Baptist Church with Reverend Kent Cranford officiating.
Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park.
Carl was a US Army WWII veteran serving with the Headquarters Company Second Battalion 179 Infantry in the European Eastern Theater in Italy and France. He was awarded three Bronze Stars. Carl was also a Prisoner of War detained in France. He retired from Wix Corporation in 1983, member of Loray Baptist Church for seventy five years and enjoyed being a member of the choir.
Survivors include his daughters, Linda Tanner of Gastonia, Sherry Huffstetler Decker of Gastonia, Debbie Anthony and husband Keith of Gastonia, son, Carl Huffstetler, Jr. and wife Caroline of Tybee Island, Ga., grandchildren, Shelly Denise Tanner Sale and husband Eddie, Sammy Tanner, Jr., Clay Anthony and wife Nicole, Nikki Haas and husband Shane all of Gastonia, Carl Huffstetler, III of Atlanta, Ga., Dorothy Huffstetler and Jessica Giovanni both of Tybee Island, Ga., six great-grandchildren, siblings, Irene Roland and Bobbie Odgen both of Gastonia, sister-in-laws Kathleen Dixon and Jean Crisp both of Gastonia.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Lorene Crisp Huffstetler.
