Listd as a member of the Methodist Episcopal Union Church of Philadelphia, PA. in 1803 and 1813. Married Rosanna Cormack probably in Philadelphia. The Church was located at 4th and Arch Streets and the Cemetery supposedly at 6th below Washington. Bodies from this cemetery were supposedly re-interred in Arlington Cemetery Lansdowne, PA. in 1906.

John and Rosanna had issue:

1. Jane Gordon (1805-1879) married John Wolfley
2. Rosanna Gordon (1808-1894) married Lewis Thompson
3. Rebecca Gordon (1808-?)
4. Mary Gordon (1813-?)
5. Matilda Gordon (1820-1869) married John Monroe Stukey

and possibly others.

He died from Tuberculosis.

His wife Rosanna was re-interred in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA. in 1869, but it's unknown if John's body was ever removed. If so, he could have been moved to the Arlington Cemetery in 1906. They do not have a list of who was re-interred there.
