John Bernard Newberry, the son of Perry and Carene (Ahlm) Newberry, was born March 8, 1903, at Wolbach, Nebraska, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on December 14, 1987, at the age of 84 years, 9 months, and 6 days.

He spent his early years in Ashland and Wann, Nebraska, and graduated from the Wann School.

On January 26, 1929, he was united in marriage to Doris Elwood, at Logan, Iowa. Two daughters were born to this union, Janet Lorraine and Patricia Kay.

J.B. spent 20 years operating heavy equipment for Saunders County, and was manager of Co-op store, elevator, and gas station in various localities for 24 years. He worked for the City of Aurora water department for 7 years, and after retiring from the city he worked for Wortman's construction company until his final retirement in 1981. He was a member of the Aurora First Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, and a daughter Patricia Christensen in 1968.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris; one daughter, Janet Bergman of Elwood; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services were held 1:30 P.M., Friday, December 18, 1987 at the First Christian Church in Aurora. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.
