Charles R Zeigler was 1/2 Delaware Indian and was 14 years old when the Delaware Tribe was forced to move to Indian Territory. His mother had decided to stay in Kansas and then she died in October 1867 so he lived with his sister Ellen until he married. He moved with his wife Julia and first two children to Indian Territory sometime about 1880. Charles and Julia separated or divorced sometime between 1886 and 1890, when Julia took the children and moved to New Cambria, Missouri, where her parents were living. (He may have gone to Missouri with his family but was back in Indian Territory before 1900). Charles lived in Indian Territory (Oklahoma) for nearly 45 years and never enrolled with the Delaware or Cherokee Tribes. He then moved to Minnesota about 1919, where his sons Malon and Bert were living. He has not been found on the 1930 Federal Census nor has his place of death been found.
