Moses Hougland is the fourth son of Samuel and Cynthia A. Hougland.

On October 20, 1881, Moses married Miss Sarah M. Collins in Uniontown, Jackson Co, IN, and to this union was born six children: Amy E. (b.1883), Ivy M. (b.1885), Daisy Grace (b. 1886), Mabel A. (b.1893), Clarice F. (b.1896). A sixth child apparently died before 1900.

The US Census of 1900 shows Moses and Sarah living in Seymour, Jackson Co, IN, and states that Moses was a merchant of tea and coffee at the time.

Moses died on July 29, 1902 in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY at the age of 40y, 4m. The US Census of 1910 lists Sarah M. as a widow, with all five daughters living at home.

The original burial site of Moses is still being researched; however, Cave Hill Cemetery records indicate that on March 26, 1928 Moses's daughter, Ms. Ivy Hougland purchased a lot for the entire family. Cave Hill Cemetery records suggest that Moses was reburied there on 13 Oct 1928.
