Frank Marvin Boyd, son of Arthur & Mollie Boyd, was born on Aug. 27, 1900, in the Speed, KS. vicinity where he was reared & spent most of his life.
On June 19, 1920 he was united in marriage to Bernice Viola Reed. To this union were born one daughter & three sons.
Frank attended the rural schools in Phillips Co., KS. Before his marriage, he also attended an automobile mechanic school in Wichita, KS. Later, he received training as an airplane motor mechanic in school at Fairfax Airport in Kansas City, KS. Although he was raised on a farm, & farmed for a few years, his interest turned early to repair & operation of mechanical equipment. He owned & operated road equipment for many years.
He also worked for D.G.Hansen as shop foreman for repair & maintenance of road equipment. During the final years of his life, he operated a repair shop near his home. He did custom combining during the past few years. He was a friend to all & rendered many services to family & neighbors.
He departed this life on Nov. 24, 1964.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Bernice; his daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Constance) Chester, Glade, KS.; three sons, Frank Boyd, Jr., of Speed, KS., Billie of Olathe, KS., & Dennis Boyd in the home; & two daughters-in-law & one son-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents & a brother, John, who was lost in W.W.II.
Other members of his immediate family who mourn his loss are his sisters, Mrs. Noel (Ediith) Krouse of Kansas City, MO., & Mrs. Dorothy Gates of Overland Park, KS., & his brother, James Boyd of Axtell, NE., together with one sister-in-law & one brother-in-law. He also leaves eight grandchildren & numerous nieces & nephews & a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 27, 1964 at the Eckhart Funeral Home with A.G. Ives officiating. Mrs A.J. Ives was soloist accompanied by Mrs. Lloyd Reese at the organ.
Casket bearers were Reid Baxter, Donald Johnston, Duane Harmon, John Boyd, James Wiltrout & Ray Johnston. Interment was at Pleasant View cemetery, Logan, KS.
