He was a heavy equipment mechanic for Reno Construction Company in Ottawa. He was in this line of business for 40 years before retiring in 1989.
He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 101, VFW Post 2993, Fraternal Order of Eagles 700, and American Legion 153. He was a veteran of the Navy and served during WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine M. Boyd, of the home, two sons, and two daughters; two brothers Dennis Boyd and Frank Boyd, Jr. both of Speed; a sister, Connie Chester, Glade and five grandchildren.
Services were at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13 at the W.L. Frye & Son Funeral Home, Olathe. Burial was in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe.
The family suggests contributions to the American Diabetes Association, 9201 Ward Parkway, Suite 100, Kansas City, Mo. 66207-2533."
