Pioneer Resident of County is Dead

Mrs Deborah Husselman, 98, Auburn, Succumbs at Her Daughter's Home,
after Suffering Broken Hip

A pioneer resident of DeKalb county and one of the county's oldest citizens, Mrs Deborah Husselman of Auburn, age 98, died at 6:15 am Monday.

Mrs Husselman passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs Goldie Myers, 1320 South Jackson Street, Auburn. She had been in excellent health despite her advanced age, until her health failed two months ago. She had been bed fast since she fell June 3, and fractured her right hip.

The body was removed to the Dilgard & Cline funeral home in Auburn where friends may call after 10 am Tuesday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home at 10 am Thursday with the pastor of the St Mark's Lutheran Church in Auburn, Dr Allan Hauck, officiating. Burial will be in Butler cemetery.

Mrs Husselman had resided with her daughter in Auburn for 20 years since the death in 1936 of her second husband, Lewis Husselman.

She was first married to Milton L Diehl of Hicksville, O, in April 1875. Mr Diehl died in 1916.

Mrs Husselman was born June 16, 1858 in Jackson Township, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Samuel E Bailey. She resided in Hicksville and later in Butler with her first husband and after her marriage to Mr Husselman, lived on a farm on the Auburn-Ashley road north of Auburn.

Surviving, besides the daughter in Auburn, are two half-brothers, John Bailey of Litchfield, Mich, and Benjamin F Bailey, 1023 Ensley avenue, Auburn; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A daughter, Mrs Sylvia Berkey, who died in Butler in 1910, two sons who died in infancy, four sisters and three half-brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services for Mrs Deborah Husselman, 98, pioneer resident of DeKalb county, were conducted at 10 am Thursday at the Dilgard & Cline funeral home in Auburn with Dr Allan Hauck, pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran church in Auburn, officiating. Burial was in the Butler cemetery.
