Mona H. Rorar

Mona H. Rorar, 86, of 71 E. Fulton St., Wood, died at 9:57 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 1990, at the home of her niece, Sharon Baker Diehl, in Newburg. Death followed an extended illness.

Born in Newburg on July 24, 1903, she was a daughter of the late Dawson C. and Flora E. (Dunmire) Baker. She was united in marriage with Samuel J. Rorar on June 24, 1924, at Newburg, by the Rev. Mr. Gibson. Mr. Rorar died April 2, 1967.

Surviving are a foster daughter, Isabelle Varner, of Camp Hill; a brother, Dean C. Baker, Newburg; a sister, Doris C. McGahey, Cassville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A brother and three sisters preceded her in death.

Mrs. Rorar was a member of the Wood United Methodist Church. She was a past matron of Saxton Chapter No. 161, Order of Eastern Star.

She had attended Juniata College, Huntingdon, and taught school in Wood Township for a number of years. In addition, she was secretary for the N.L McClain Stores in Robertsdale and Wood, secretary of the Rockhill Coal Co. and secretary of Tri-County Water Authority for a number of years.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at the D. Ronald Long Funeral Chapel, Saxton, with the Rev. Ralph H. Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Newburg Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral chapel Friday, from 7-9 p.m.

An Eastern Star memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, at the funeral chapel.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made, in memory of Mona H. Rorar, to the Broad Top Home Nursing Foundation, Broad Top City, Pa. 16621.
