Wishart, Mary Alyce Sprinkle - age 83 of Knoxville - died July 27, 2012 at Manor House Assisted Living. Mary Alyce was born 29 December 1928 in Brownwood, Texas. Mary graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and Baylor University (B.A., class of 1949). Mary later received her master's degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN. Mary served in public elementary education as a teacher/principal for 42 years. She taught in Dallas, TX, Midland, TX, Austin, TX, Martin, TN and Knoxville, TN. In Knoxville, TN, she taught at McCallie Elementary, Ft. Sanders and West Hills Elementary. She finished her teaching career as Principal at Sequoyah Elementary. During her teaching career, Mary was well known to have great love for her school children.

Mary became a member of First Baptist Church, Knoxville, in October 1961. There she served as a deacon and sang in the Golden Notes Choir with her good friend, Edna Hyder.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, A. Paul Wishart; her parents, S.D. and Mary Helen Sims Sprinkle, and her brother, Dan Sprinkle.

Mary is survived by her son, Al Wishart and three sisters-in-law, La Vora Sprinkle of Richmond , VA; Ione Fieldon of Corryton, TN and Jean Wishart of Knoxville.

Family and friends will meet 1:45 p.m. Sunday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service and interment with Rev. Dave Ward officiating. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of First Baptist Church, Knoxville, on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.
