Richard Eugene Chadman, 81, of Lamartine, died Monday Dec. 21, 2007, at Clarion Hospital. Born June 13, 1926, in Lamartine, Clarion County, he was the son of the late John Auther and M. Evelyn Gates Chadman. Mr. Chadman graduated from Salem Twp. High School in 1944. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from Oct. 1946 thru Oct.1949. He served with the 114th Signal Service Company and was a radio message decoder in occupied Germany. He was also a rifle expert. Mr. Chadman retired from Knox Glass in 1985 after 33 years of service. He was a member of Salem Reformed United Church of Christ in Lamartine, DeHart Rossman Wenner American Legion Post 997 of Lamartine, the National Rifle Association and Glass Bottle Union Local 55. Mr. Chadman loved the outdoors. He grafted trees and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, airplanes and all types of machinery. He was known for fixing anything electronic, mechanical and welding. He traveled to many states including Alaska. Mr. Chadman married the former Margaret T. Ritts on Nov. 10,1950 and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Chadman is survived by four sons, Kenneth Chadman and his wife Mary Alice of Cooperstown, Dennis Chadman and his wife of Chicora, Steven Chadman of Lamartine and Ronald Chadman of Culpepper VA and one daughter, Karen Wedekind and her husband Steven of Knox. Also surviving are 13 grand children, Kathy, Shabahn, Joe, Sheila, Jim, Paul, Keith, Todd, Karla and Taylor Chadman, and Scott, Bryan and Kyle Wedekind. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Chadman in 1944
