For several years she taught school in one-room schools in Douglas County, alternating teaching and attending high school until she graduated from Mtn. Grove High School. She enjoyed telling stories of those years, including buying an automobile when there were few drivers, and fewer good roads.
She married Louie Henderson on May 10, 1929 at Flint, Michigan. During their lives together, they farmed for several years at Noble, Missouri where Imagene also taught school. In 1953 they relocated to Kansas City and lived there until they retired. Although she lived several places, she always considered Mtn. Grove home. Mr. Henderson preceded her in death on April 28, 1978.
She was very devoted to her husband, and family. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Clairnell and Doyle Kelley, Wichita, Kansas; two brothers, Zack Riley, State of Iowa, and Leo Alsup, Cabool; one aunt, Gertrude Hutchison, Springfield, Missouri; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many other family and friends who will sadly miss her.
