1875 - married Lena Geis
Attended by many friends the funeral of David Cberlies for 56 years a resident of Woodbridge, who died at his home on Alden street, Monday night, was held at the home this morning, with the celebration of a high requiem mass in St. James Church. Interment was made in St. James Cemetery.
Among those attending the service: Were former associates of the deceased employed by the Port Reading Railroad with which company Mr. Oberlies was connected for more than 25 years.
Mr. Oberlies was a native of Germany, being born in 1848. He came to the United States in 1869, settled in Woodbridge, and always made his home here. In 1875, he married Lena Geis, of Woodbridge, the couple celebrating the golden anniversary of their wedding on September 11, 1925.
Surviving are the widow, five daughters and one son: Mrs. Hiram Preece, of Ogden, Utah; Mrs. Laura Todd, of Newark; Miss Rose Oberlies, Mrs. A. Delaney, Mrs. Theodore X. O'Brien and Henry Oberlies, of Woodbridge.
