Fred Fleury, Jr. was born on April 14, 1918 to Fred Fleury Sr. and Rose (Heaney) Fleury at Fort Thompson, SD. He was an only child. He attended and graduated from Pierre High School and later attended Wapeton State School of Science at Wapeton, ND. Fred served in the United States Army from November 1942 to October 1945. As a WWII veteran he received a Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Battle Star, 4 Overseas Service Bars and Good Conduct Medal. He was also a member of the American Legion. Fred worked in logging from 1959-1968 in Oregon. To the union of Fred's first marriage, two sons, Brent and Lynn, were born. To the union of his second marriage, two children, twins, Rosemary and Roger, were born. Before retiring he was self-employed as a Paint Contractor from 1968-1980. Later, Fred was united in marriage to Florence Svobodny on June 5, 1974 in Kennebec, SD.

Fred was a kind, warm spirited man who warmed your heart with his smile. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, painting pictures, time at the Casino and the company of family and friends.

Fred Fleury Jr. passed away Sunday morning May 27, 2007 at Sanford Mid-Dakota Medical Center in Chamberlain SD at the age of 89 years, he was not alone at the time of his passing. Grateful for having shared his life are his nieces, nephews, cousins, grand-children and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Florence in August of 2001 and his mother Rose and father Fred Fleury, Sr.
