Fern Haizlip Gresham, 93, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003. She was born to Mattie and Lee Johnson on March 14, 1910 in Jasper County, Mo. After graduating from Carthage High School in 1929, she worked in accounting for six years at the Bank of Carthage. Gresham married Glenn Haizlip in 1935 and, after his death in 1982, married Harvey Gresham in 1984. In addition to farming, Gresham was active in Extension Clubs, 4-H clubs and PTA and she later volunteered at the McCune Brooks Gift Shop.

Survivors include four children, Kenny Haizlip, Joplin, Mary Jane Stevenson, Overland Park, Kan., Jim Haizlip, Dallas, Sandra Mutrux Stoner, Miriam, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Martha Reed and Dorothy Slates Solomson, both of Carthage. She was preceded in death by her husbands, a daughter, Barbara Haizlip and a grandson, Bret Haizlip.

After a private burial, a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at Fairview Christian Church in Carthage with a lunch following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children's Mercy Hospital, 2401 Gillham Rd., Kansas City, Mo. 64108.
