Jerry T. Crawford, 66, of Van Wert, died at 5:45 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Lima Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 3, 1946, in Pineville, Ky., the son of the late Caleb and Effie (Lee) Crawford.

Mr. Crawford retired from Federal-Mogul Corporation after 43 years of service. He attended Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcat and Detroit Tigers fan and loving watching his grandchildren play sports.

Survivors include a daughter, Michelle (Richard) Spridgeon of Van Wert; two brothers, John (Lula) Crawford of Fitzhugh (Mary) Crawford, both of Van Wert; three sisters, Maxine (Dan) Sutton of Lima, Dot (Bob) Ziegler of Ottawa, and Karen (Edgar) Money of Van Wert; one sister-in-law, Nancy Crawford of Van Wert; and three grandchildren, Kelsey, Abigail and Trevor Spridgeon.

A brother, Hollis R. Crawford, and one sister, Mary Gloris Crawford, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Steve Savage officiating. Military services will be held at the funeral home immediately following the funeral by the combined honors units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at the funeral home.
