Hollis R. Crawford, 77, of Van Wert, died at 4:37 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2008, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
He was born April 9, 1931, in Middlesboro, Ky., the son of the late Caleb and Effie (Lee) Crawford. On June 27, 1964, he married Nancy J. (Zinsmeister) Crawford, who survives in Van Wert.
Other survivors include a daughter, Holly (Terry) Childs of Van Wert; three brothers, John Crawford, Fitzhugh Crawford and Jerry Crawford, all of Van Wert; three sisters, Maxine (Dan) Sutton of Lima, Dot (Bob) Ziegler of Ottawa, and Karen (Edgar) Money of Van Wert; and two grandchildren.
A sister, Mary Gloris Crawford, also precede him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 8, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. Tim Burden officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery near Middle Point, with military graveside rites performed by the combined honors units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, September 7, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.
