Obituary, Oklahoman, July 19, 2007
Virginia Ann Meadows, 74, went to be with her Lord July 16, 2007 Following a 6-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born December 27, 1932 in Mountain Park, Oklahoma, to T.C. and Areta (Wilburn) Huckabay.

She was a 1950 graduate of the Hockaday School in Dallas, TX. She later attended the University of Oklahoma for 2 years and was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. Virginia followed in her father's footsteps by making a lifetime career in banking from which she retired in December 2002. She helped pave the way for women, not only in the banking industry, but also by being one of the earliest female Owner/CEO's of a corporate business in Western Oklahoma. She was a member of many Banking Associations and served on a number of bank boards and committees.

She is survived by her husband William (Bill) Meadows of Edmond; a son, Brent Ballinger and wife Penny; a daughter, Stacy Thomas and husband Garry of Elk City; daughter, Sydney Gonzales of Yukon; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, and one grandson.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Mannel and his oncology staff at the OU Medical Center, Dr. Faysal Nasr, and many caring members of her church family, friends, and associates. The family would also like to extend our appreciation to Valir Hospice Care and Home Instead Senior Care.

Services to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fairview Baptist Church, where she was a devoted member, located at 1230 Sooner Road in Edmond, OK and will be officiated by Brother Paul Blair. Interment follows at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Edmond, OK. Services under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home-Edmond.
